Usually conducted by phone or FaceTime, the introductory session is our way of getting to know each other and for you to let me know about your expectations for our work together. We will talk about other factors at play, such as where you are in your career, your interests and background, and anything else that you would like to share.

We can also talk about some of the logistics of completing the Highlands Ability Battery and go over any questions that you may have before taking the assessment.

The power of the HAB truly lies in the debrief. During the debrief, we will go over the detailed results of your Highlands Ability Battery assessment. We will discuss the type of environments in which you excel, what demands expression in your work and in your life, and how your abilities combine to create your very unique profile. We will also talk about the way in which you learn best and how you can maximize your learning style.

When reviewing your Work Types, we will talk about your abilities in a new way and how you can apply them in the workplace. Using language that is common to schools and offices, you will see how your abilities match with certain functions, which can help you identify the types of tasks that would come easily and naturally to you and what would expend more time, effort, and energy.

The Career Exploration is a powerful tool regardless of where a person may fall with their career trajectory.

For a high school or college student, it can give them insight into colleges, majors, and internships that would fit most comfortably within their ability profile.

For professionals, it can demonstrate why one aspect of a field may be more satisfying than another and why someone would be suited for certain positions over others.

For people in transition, whether that be a stay-at-home parent going back to work or a mid-career professional looking to pivot, it can be especially useful to look at fields and possibilities that may as yet have remained unexplored.
